Grateful for His Power
29 Dhul Hijjah 1447
الْقَادِرُ
Al-Qādir — The Able
أَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَى أَن يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَى
Is not He (Who doeth so) Able to bring the dead to life
Surah Al-Qiyāmah (75:40)
Intention
Today, I will thank Allah for being Al-Qādir — for the fact that nothing in my life is beyond His ability to change.
Reflection
Al-Qādir is The Capable — the One who can do anything. And gratitude for His power is gratitude for possibility. As long as Al-Qādir is your Lord, what feels permanent may yet shift. The heaviest burden can be lifted. The hardest heart can be softened. The closed door can be opened. Gratitude for Al-Qādir is gratitude for the fact that your story is never over, because the Author can write anything.
On this verse
The question is rhetorical and the answer is absolute: yes. If He can give life to the dead, what in your life is too difficult for Him?
Du'a
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
There is no deity except Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion, His is the praise, He gives life and causes death, and He is over all things capable.
Sunan at-Tirmidhī 3474, graded ḥasan
Said ten times after Maghrib — adding 'He gives life and causes death' to the standard formula. The evening declaration of His total capability.
Hadith
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Know that if the entire nation were to gather together to benefit you, they would not benefit you except with what Allah has already written for you. And if they gathered to harm you, they would not harm you except with what Allah has already written against you.'
