Day 167

Nothing Escapes His Ability

1 Muharram 1448

الْمُقْتَدِرُ

Al-MuqtadirThe Powerful

إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَهَرٍ * فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ

Lo! the righteous will dwell among gardens and rivers, Firmly established in the favour of a Mighty King

Surah Al-Qamar (54:54-55)

Intention

Today, I will remember that nothing in my life is random — every detail is determined by Al-Muqtadir, and I will be grateful for the precision.

Reflection

Al-Muqtadir is The All-Determining, The Dominant in power — a more intensive form of Al-Qādir. While Al-Qādir means He has the ability, Al-Muqtadir means He exercises that ability over everything, nothing escapes it. In gratitude: no blessing reaches you by accident, and no blessing is withheld by oversight. Every single thing that has ever happened to you passed through the filter of Al-Muqtadir's absolute power. That precision is itself a blessing.

On this verse

The final verse of Surah Al-Qamar — the last word of the surah is Muqtadir. Near Him — 'inda Malīkin Muqtadir. Nearness to the All-Powerful. That is the ultimate destination.

Du'a

Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise. I bear witness that there is no deity except You. I seek Your forgiveness and I turn to You in repentance.

Sunan Abī Dāwūd 4859, graded ṣaḥīḥ by Al-Albānī

The kaffārat al-majlis — the expiation of the gathering. Said when leaving any gathering, it erases whatever was said wrongly. Gratitude includes seeking forgiveness for falling short of it.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Allah's hand is full, and is not affected by spending — generous day and night. Have you seen what He has spent since He created the heavens and the earth? Yet what is in His hand has not diminished.'

Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 4684, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 993
