Grateful for What Came Early

الْمُقَدَّمُ

Al-Muqaddim — The Expediter

نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ

We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun

Surah Al-Wāqi'ah (56:60)

Intention

Today, I will thank Allah for one blessing that arrived earlier than I expected — and recognise His hand in the timing.

Reflection

Al-Muqaddim is The One who brings things forward — who expedites, who advances, who places certain things before others. In gratitude: some blessings arrived earlier than you expected. The job that came before you were ready. The person who entered your life before you were looking. The understanding that opened before you had studied enough. These early arrivals were not accidents — they were the work of Al-Muqaddim, who knew you needed them sooner than you thought.

On this verse

Even death — the ultimate timing — is decreed by Him, advanced or delayed according to His wisdom. Nothing in the sequence of your life is out of place.

Du'a

The Prophet (peace be upon him)'s comprehensive du'a in the night prayer — covering past and future, secret and public. A prayer for the person who knows that both what came early and what came late need Allah's mercy.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Hurry to do good deeds before you are overtaken by turbulent times like pieces of a dark night.'
