Forgiving as Nature
17 Jumada al-Awwal 1448
الْغَفَّارُ
Al-Ghaffār — The Ever-Forgiving
وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِّمَن تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَى
And lo! verily I am Forgiving toward him who repenteth and believeth and doeth good, and afterward walketh aright
Surah Ṭā-Hā (20:82)
Intention
Today, forgiveness is not my project. It is my nature. I will forgive before I am asked.
Reflection
Al-Ghaffār integrated: forgiveness is no longer something you do — it is who you are. After four cycles, the pattern is clear. He forgives repeatedly, endlessly, joyfully. You, walking in His footsteps, make forgiveness your default setting. Not because people deserve it. Because you have been forgiven so much that withholding forgiveness from others would be hypocrisy.
On this verse
Repeatedly Forgiving — Ghaffār, the intensive form. Not once. Not twice. Repeatedly. That is the standard.
Du'a
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ
My Lord! Forgive me and my parents and him who entereth my house believing, and believing men and believing women, and increase not the wrong-doers in aught save ruin
Surah Nūḥ (71:28)
Nūḥ's du'a — forgiveness in expanding circles: self, parents, household, entire ummah.
Hadith
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'There is no servant who commits a sin, then performs ablution well, then prays two units of prayer, then asks Allah for forgiveness — except that Allah forgives him.'
