Day 329

Overflowing Generosity

15 Jumada al-Thani 1448

الْكَرِيمُ

Al-KarīmThe Generous

اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ

Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous

Surah Al-ʿAlaq (96:3)

Intention

Today, my generosity will overflow — in money, in time, in attention, in forgiveness.

Reflection

Al-Karīm integrated: let generosity overflow from you. Not measured generosity, not calculated generosity, but the karam of someone who has been so generously treated by Al-Karīm that they cannot help but pass it on. This is the integrated life at its finest: a river of generosity that begins with Him and flows through you to the world.

On this verse

The very first attribute after the command to read: generosity. Knowledge and generosity are siblings.

Du'a

يَا كَرِيمُ اعْفُ عَنِّي

O Most Generous, pardon me.

General supplication

Connecting karam with pardon — the most generous act is to forgive.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) was the most generous of people.
